Youth Deserve a Chance to Dream - Working together to give our youth a better tomorrow.

Congratulations to Kijana Mitchell, YDCD's 2008 scholarship recipient. 

Traditionally, Youth Deserve a Chance to Dream's annual scholarship is awarded to youth entering post secondary educational institutions.

Kijana is a musical prodigy attending St. Michael's Choir School in the City of Toronto.  Kijana entered the school in Grade 3 after considerable difficulty adapting socially and academically in a regular school program.  It was later discovered that Kijana possessed superior academic capabilities; and it was suggested that he would benefit from a gifted program. 

Kijana has flourished during his time in the private school, but unfortunately due to financial difficulties Kijana's future in the program was in jeopardy.

In addition to his specialized training at St. Michael's Choir school, Kijana is involved in a Leadership training program and also volunteers with the Tropicana Community Services tutoring program.

Youth Deserve a Chance to Dream is proud to present Kijana with this year's scholarship award so that he may continue his studies at the private school, and fulfill his dream to continue his pursuit of academic and musical training.
